Joseph Michael Koons, 57, entered eternal rest Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He is survived by his mother, Pamela Koons; his two brothers, James F. Koons and wife Joanna; Shannon Koons and wife Michelle; his son, Jordan Price and his mother Rae Ellen Price; his two daughters, Avery Koons and Abby Koons along with their mother, Tammy Edwards.
He is preceded in death by his father, James E. Koons Jr., his grandparents James E Koons Sr, Gladys Koons; Frank Daley and Sally Daley and their son Christopher Daley. Joe was born in El Paso, TX on June 30, 1967. Joe resided in El Paso with his family until they moved to Silver City NM in 1979. He attended Silver High School and graduated in 1985. Afterwards he had a short stint with the US Coast Guard. He spent his remaining time until his death in Silver City.
Joe was a person with many talents and skills. He was a carpenter by trade and could build anything. He spent many years remodeling houses and building things for people. He was also very creative. He could draw, carve, shape and mold things, that the average person without his talent, could never do. Joe could see things in a way that only very few people could. He taught himself to play the guitar and could listen to almost any song and play right along. He loved animals and his golden retriever, Buddy, was the true definition of a dog being man's best friend.
Joe had a love for the outdoors. He could out fish most anyone, but maybe that was because he got to the good spots first. He loved hunting arrow heads and was fascinated with the ancient culture that was once in our area. He had no fear and was very agile. In the forest he would disappear from the group and the next thing you knew he had climbed up 30 feet into a pine tree, or he would come back with a rattlesnake that he had just caught with his bare hands. Yes, Joe was one of a kind and he will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 2 pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. For those of you that knew Joe, please come to the service if you can.
Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory "Trust care for the ones you love" ~ 575-537-0777. To send condolences, visit www.terrazasfuneralchapel.com.
