Jerry Huff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Terrazas Funeral Chapels - Santa Clara on Jan. 12, 2026.
Jerry Myrl Huff, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 30, at Mountain View Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Jerry was born on March 10, 1945, in Silver City, New Mexico, to Melvin and Billie Beth Huff. His family moved to a farm in Gila when he was five years old, where he lived until age nine, before relocating back to Silver City. Jerry graduated from Silver High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Western New Mexico University.

After graduation, Jerry began his career with Scott Electric, becoming a journeyman electrician. During this time, he worked on several notable projects, including wiring the newly built Playas townsite. After leaving Scott Electric, he worked in California and Prescott, Arizona, before eventually returning to Silver City. There, he held various jobs and volunteered as an ambulance driver.

Jerry later worked for Brown and Root in the mines and then for James Hamilton Construction, where he served as Hot Plant Supervisor and Electrician. He retired after nearly 30 years of dedicated service. Even after retirement, Jerry continued working, taking consulting jobs in Wyoming and Nevada as a journeyman electrician. Eventually, he returned to his cowboy roots, working with Jessie Baker on a ranch near Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Following an illness, Jerry returned home to spend time with his wife, Jennifer, until her passing in 2023. Outside of work, Jerry loved spending time with his family and friends. He was happiest working with his hands-working on cars, welding, construction projects, remodeling his home, riding horses, hunting, shooting, or enjoying anything outdoors, especially with those he loved. Jerry was always available to family and friends, whether to lend a helping hand, share one of his famous talks, or proudly tell stories about his six children, fourteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in his family and in everything he did.

Jerry is survived by his children: Lori Jones (Tony), Ronnie Huff (Shellii), Lance Huff, Wendy Marable (Rob), and Tiffany Madara; daughter-in-law Ashley Huff; grandchildren Bryan Townsend, Sydney Townsend, Spencer Hamilton, Drew Morgan, Sasha Sanchez, Christopher Huff, Joe Huff, Kaleigh Kelly, Taylor Huff (Kelsey), Tyler Huff, Katelynn Forrer (Dominic), Darrien Marinsek (Matt), Rodney Marable (Jenna), and Nola Madara; his sister Judy Huff Ward (Tip); sisters-in-law Margaret Hughes (Michael) and Elizabeth Wright; brother-in-law Martin Wright (Vicky); nephew Stephen Scott; niece Tisha Babineaux (Keith); and nine great-grandchildren.
