Joseph Michael Kozakiewicz, Jr. 39, of Granger, Indiana passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at his home. Joseph was born on August 17, 1986 in South Bend, Indiana to Joseph Michael Kozakiewicz, Sr. and Ann (Skarbek) Kozakiewicz. He had been employed as a welder, working in the oil fields of North Dakota. He also worked for Didier Meats in Fort Wayne. Joseph is survived by his mother and step-father, Ann and Kevin Jackman of Granger, Indiana; his sister, Kelly (Tyler) Rayl of Osceola, Indiana; his step-sister, Jessica (John) Brice; his step-brother, Nathan (Reagan) Jackman; his paternal grandmother, Jacqueline Kozakiewicz of South Bend, Indiana; his aunts, Diana (Ronnie) Blosser, Karen Harness, Agnes (Dan) Todd and Denise (James H.) Skarbek; and his uncles, Jeff Kozakiewicz, and James (Christine) Kozakiewicz and Norbert (Kathy) and Michael Skarbek. Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Michael Kozakiewicz, Sr.; maternal grandmother and grandfather, Lillian and Albert Skarbek; his paternal grandfather, Joseph Kozakiewicz; Uncle Glenn Skarbek, Uncle Kyle Harness, niece Autumn Rayl and his faithful companion, Diesel. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Burial will follow in Sumption Prairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Joseph loved the outdoors and fishing. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed grilling and hanging out with his family and friends. He was the chief pierogi roller every Christmas since he was 8.
