Joseph Krantzler Obituary

Dr. Joseph “Joe” David Krantzler Dr. Joseph “Joe” David Krantzler, a Cardiologist and resident of Audubon, PA passed away unexpectedly on July 14th 2022 at the age of 70. Dr. Krantzler is survived by his wife of 26 years Sandra Krantzler, his children Kenneth, Alexandra, Samuel, Sarina and husband Luke Lightner, his brother Alan and husband Frank Potash, sister-in-law Cherie Krantzler-Johns, multiple nieces and nephews, and a tremendous community of loving friends, colleagues, and patients. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helene Krantzler and his brothers, Daniel and Jay Krantzler. Dr. Krantzler was born in Johnstown, PA. He attended Forest Hills High School and graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1973. He went on to study medicine in Guadalajara, Mexico and graduated from Chicago Medical School in 1979, specializing in Internal Medicine. He completed his fellowship in Cardiology at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Krantzler dedicated over 40 years to treating patients with compassion, thoughtfulness, and dignity. He was a highly respected member of the Pottstown area medical community, practicing at Pottstown Medical Specialists (PMSI), Phoenixville Hospital, Pottstown Hospital where he was Chief of Medical Staff from 1995-97, and most recently Tower Health Cardiology in Limerick, PA. Joe was a loving father, supportive husband, and loyal friend for those fortunate enough to know him. He was passionate about wine collecting, Penn State football, gardening, and skiing. He had an exuberance for life, new and interesting cuisine, music, and most notably The Beatles. His enjoyment of a sunny day on the beach, a glass of wine after a long day of work, and a challenging crossword puzzle on Sunday mornings was only surpassed when sharing these simple pleasures with friends and loved ones. Joe truly enjoyed meeting and learning about people; his family would describe him as someone “who could enter an elevator full of strangers and leave with new friends.” His was a life well-lived and a great legacy reminding us all to do the same. Joe was a kind and humble human being. He loved skiing, and over a glass of wine with fellow skiers, we always solved all of the world´s problems. He will be dearly missed.

I worked with Joe T PMMC for about 13 years. He was a great doc to his patients and treated the staff with respect and listened to what they had to say. Rest weary traveler, for you have made it home to be with the Big Guy in heaven.

We both have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Krantzler over many years. Joe, was the most respectful and the most professional all in one. The last time I seen Joe was in the Pottstown Hospital while visiting my dad back in 2015 and he was that of the same respectful and professional along with his smile and great humor. together we are sorry for the family's loss. May he Rest In Peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Dr Joe was a comrade in our wine club. I have gotten to know him over the years. As others have described a wonderful, warm, kind caring person. I believe we were blessed to get to know him. I also believe his patients, friends and family all know him the same way, likely far more wonderful than I can describe. He was always kind, approachable and relaxed. He enjoyed good humor and was always gracious in his approach to others. I offer my deepest sympathy to his wife Sandra and children. There will always be a space he left that is too big to be filled by someone else. Godspeed Dr Joe.

I had the pleasure of working with Joe for over 35 years, at Pottstown Hospital in cardiology. His patients loved him, and so did the staff. He was a true Penn State football fan, he loved many sports. He was funny, when he would sing a few lines from an 1970's-1980's song, and we would have to guess the title and artist. He took great care, of both his patients, and his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My deepest condolences to his wife and children, I will be praying for all of you. See you again, in heaven Joe.
