Joseph Linscheid Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGuire-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home on Nov. 26, 2025.
Joseph "Joe" Linscheid, born in Highland, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 9, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories of a man who was never in a hurry and always agreeable.
After graduating from high school in 1959, Joe proudly served his country by joining the Army National Reserve, where he was stationed in California alongside his brother, Art. Following his service, Joe returned home and soon moved to Moline, Illinois, near his sister, Pat and her family. There, he began a lifelong career at John Deere, working as an inspector in the foundry area, meticulously inspecting combines.
Joe dedicated over 30 years of his life to John Deere, embodying loyalty and commitment to the company in a way few could match. His love for dogs was just as profound, forming deep connections with his furry companions like Bing, Bugs, McKeever, and Squirt. Whether on car rides or relaxing on the davenport, Joe's beloved dogs were always by his side, sharing in his journey.
Joe also had a lifelong admiration for eagles, which was reflected in his home, filled with eagle figurines, and his wardrobe, where nearly every shirt proudly displayed the majestic bird. Later in life, Joe returned to Highland, Wisconsin, where he found simple pleasures in scratching lotto tickets, always hopeful that his "big win" was just around the corner. He also became a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, and whenever you visited, you could count on a game playing in the background
Joe spent his final years at CrestRidge Assisted Living and Memory Care, where he was deeply loved and cared for by the compassionate staff, particularly his special nurse, Michelle. His happiest moments there included dressing up as Santa, winning at bingo, and being the reigning champ at trivia. Joe cherished visits from his family, reminiscing about childhood memories.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Marie (Imhoff) and Alphons Linscheid; his sister Patricia (Jim) Fecht; brother-in-law, Jack Ament; Godson, Levi Linscheid; nephews, Ryan Linscheid, Joe Ament and Joe Fecht; and niece Kate Dudzik. Joe will be deeply missed by his siblings, Marge Ament, Bill (Barb) Linscheid, Art (JoDean) Linscheid, Jim (Judith) Linscheid, Mary (Wayne) Friedrich, and Alphons "Zeke" (Barbara) Linscheid, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe's easy-going nature and love for life-and those scratch-offs-will always bring a smile to those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Iowa County Cancer Coalition at www.iowacountycancercoalition.org or Iowa County Cancer Coalition, PO Box 36, Cobb, WI 53526 are greatly appreciated.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church, Highland at 11:00 am. Visitation will be begin at 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. A private family burial will be held at St. Anthony Cemetery, Highland at a later date. The McGuire-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at www.houckfuneralhomes.com.
Rest in peace, Joe. Your spirit, humor, and memories will continue, reminding us all to take life a little less seriously and enjoy the ride (especially if it's on a John Deere tractor).
