Joseph Lee Lockridge, 72, of Burnsville passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 9, 1950 in the Flood Community of Highland County, a son of the late Pinkney Stephenson and Hazel Beulah (Carpenter) Lockridge. On January 4, 1975, he married Betty Jean Roberts.

Mr. Lockridge was retired from Falling Springs Farm, where he worked as farm manager for 44 years, and was also a member of Burnsville United Methodist Church and former member of Williamsville Volunteer Fire Department. An avid hunter, he belonged to the Warm Springs Mountain Hunt Club and enjoyed time in the mountains. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren, especially fishing and attending their sporting events, as well as time spent watching westerns. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and big heart. Above all, Joe Lockridge was the true definition of a family man, who will certainly be missed by his loving family and his community.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, Joe is survived by his two sons, Curtis Lockridge and wife, Missy and Anthony Lockridge and wife, Hilary; four grandchildren, Addison, Emma, Abram and Josiah Lockridge, all of Burnsville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as countless friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Carolyn Burns and Evelyn White.

A funeral will be held 1 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2023 at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Burial will follow in Burnsville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Roberts, J.P. Plecker, Dennis Carter, Jesse Lambert, Tommy Ady, Billy Webb, Fred Randozzo and Brian Lowry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Abram Lockridge, Eddie Webb, Dennis “Spud” Brinkley, Dewayne and Michael Burns, Steve White and Grey Perry.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Sunday, June 18 at the funeral home.
