John Lockridge Obituary

John Robert Lockridge, age 76, of Madison, Indiana, formerly of Charlestown, Indiana, and the son of the late James E. and Virginia Inez (Smith) Lockridge, was born on October 28, 1948, in Hanover, Indiana. He was a 1966 Southwestern High School graduate and was an electrician at General Electric for many years until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Mensa International and enjoyed fishing, reading, playing the banjo and harmonica, and watching old westerns on television. John loved to joke and make people laugh. Mr. Lockridge passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
He is survived by his daughter: Jennifer Durand and her husband, Kenny of Madison; his sister: Joyce Higdon of Louisville, Kentucky; his grandson: Maverick Chase Miller and his fiance, Rachelle of Columbus, Indiana; his step-granddaughter, Amanda Durand of Lexington, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Neely; his brother: James Lockridge; his sisters: Cynthia Shepherd and Jane O'Hara and her husband, Jim; and his brother-in-law, David Higdon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison. Friends and family may visit at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 10:30 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
