Joe, fondly known as Pete in his youth, was born on October 5, 1931, in Lillington, North
Carolina. He was blessed with good health for his long life. Joe enjoyed many years of golf
while living in Florida and retired from his District Manager position at Suburban Propane Gas
Company before moving to Tifton.
Joe is survived by his loving wife and constant companion of 46 years, Carolyn Godwin Long and
his daughters Ginger Hall, her husband Landis and son Joey of Benson, North Carolina, and
Janet Robertson, her husband Ken and their two daughters, Jessica and Kara of Torrance,
California.
He is also survived by his step-daughter, Andrea Ryland, her husband Rob and their three
daughters Lauren, Claire and Julia of Tifton, Georgia, and his daughter-in-law, Debbie Long of
Peshtigo, Wisconsin.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Joseph M. Long, Sr. and Lucy McPherson Long of
Lillington, North Carolina, his brother, Jack Long of Conway, South Carolina and his son Jerry
Long of Peshtigo, Wisconsin.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
