Joseph E. Loree M.D.

Joseph E. Loree, M.D., passed away March 31, 2019 at the age of 97. He was born in Guelph, Canada and graduated from Queens University. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and became a fighter pilot. Professionally he became a general surgeon, specializing in trauma and was the initial Chairman of Surgery at Bay Medical Center. He belonged to many organizations including The American College of Surgeons, Wayne State Surgical Society and the Federal Aviation Agency. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Studniarz) of more than 40 years, a son Dale (Jami) Loree of Ovieda, FL, a daughter Robyn (William) Romp of Essexville, a step-son Robert (Susan) Schmidt of Bay City, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark and two siblings. A special thank-you to all his "seeing-eye" friends who enabled him to find his way around the golf courses and continue playing cards. Joseph requested cremation and no funeral. He wishes everyone to remember him as they knew him. He requested memorials to the American Red Cross, 1232 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602 who was so instrumental in his war prison camp survival or to the W. K. Kellogg Eye Center, University of Michigan, 1000 Wall St., Ann Arbor, MI 48105.
