LATHAM - Joseph P. Lukaszek, 79, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Albany VA Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ann Hetch Lukaszek. He graduated from CBA in Albany, and went on to earn his Bachelor's in English from Siena College.
Joe proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and attained the rank of Lance Corporal. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, the VFW and a lifetime member of the American Legion.
In his younger years, he worked as a manager at Charles Chips in Syracuse. Then he went to work for the U.S. Post Office in Cohoes, Latham, Brockton, Mass. and Washington DC. Most recently, he had been employed at The Pines at Heartwood, in Troy.
Joe was an avid baseball fan who enjoyed watching his Mets, and always loved rooting for the underdog.
Joseph is survived by his brother, Thomas J. Lukaszek of Cohoes; and by his cousins, Marion Brisson (John) of Clifton Park, James Sway of Reno, Nev., and William Sway of Knoxville, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home, Wednesday, 7 to 9 p.m.
