Joseph Macik Obituary

In Loving Memory of Joseph Macik.

"Life is a journey, and the true measure of its worth is found in the kindness we share and the lives we touch along the way."

Joseph Macik, aka Joe Cool, 87, of Oakwood Village, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on June 16, 2025. Born in Cleveland on December 18, 1938, he was the beloved son of Michael and Anna (Samandra) Macik.

A proud graduate of Bedford High School, Joseph joined the Army shortly after graduation, serving his country with honor. Following his military service, he worked at Cleveland Steel before transitioning to a career as a truck driver, delivering produce. Joseph then finished up his work force career as a carpet installer before he retired in 1981 due to a disability.

Joseph was a kind and generous soul, always willing to help those in need, often putting their needs before his own. He was a collector of many things and believed that "one man's trash is another man's treasure," His love for animals was evident, as he welcomed any creature in need of a home or meal. Joseph also loved taking long rides, covered bridges, planting flowers, and spending time with his family and friends. A true "jack of all trades," Joseph had a remarkable ability to fix anything, often diagnosing problems just by listening to descriptions of the issues over the phone!

Joseph leaves behind his ex Nancy (Pittsfield) and two sons, James and Joseph, both of Pittsfield. He is also survived by his three daughters: Danielle Kenyon (Jeff) of Pittsfield, Kelle Hostetter of Pittsfield, and Jodi Hostetter (Tim) of Washington. Joseph cherished his six grandchildren-Amanda (Simon), Ritchie (Tawnia), Mark, Joseph, Cote, and Jessica-and his seven great-grandchildren: Jackson, Temperance, Elina, Hayden, Hunter, Lilianna, and Emma. He is survived by his sister Anne McCardel of Oakwood Village, along with numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. .

Joseph was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Nicholas, John, Michael, and George Macik.

Funeral Notice: A catered celebration of life for Joseph will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Colonial Theatre Garage,111 South St, Pittsfield from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in honoring his memory over coffee and bagels.

Joe was one of my saviors when I was a child. He was and will always be my brother in law in heart. He helped me all through my life, especially when I was a child growing up. I will remember and love him forever. Rest easy. Give mom, Jan, Ed and John a hug from me, until we meet again.
