He is lovingly remembered by his wife Tamara (Doerr) of 40 years, his daughter Lisa, his sons Michael (Kerrie), Isaac (Karra), Daniel (Dana), and Thomas; and grandchildren Ashley, Mayci, Gabriel, Chanel, Harlynn, Oliver, Hendrix, Maria, and Hampton; and great grandchildren Anthony, Kameron, and Judah. He is also survived by his brothers Dave (Chris), Dan (Sherry), and Paul (Tracy). Joe is preceded in death by his parents Wilma (Grau) and John, brother, John Jr., and son Samuel.
Joe was born on December 29, 1953 in St. Paul, MN to John and Wilma Manthey. He married Tamara Doerr on October 6, 1984 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, MN and they made their home in Chisago County for 40 years. Joe served in the United States Navy and after his time in the Navy he went on to serve with the St. Paul Fire Department for 20 years.
One of Joe's many passions was spreading the word of the Lord by sharing his faith with all who knew him. To know Joe was to love him. We will forever remember his never-ending love, faith, and lessons he taught us.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Living Water Fellowship Church in Rush City with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Interment will take place at 2:30 pm at the Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom with military honors.
