Joseph "Joe" Albert Martin, 80, of Oakland, passed away on November 29, 2025, at his residence with his wife by his side. Born on November 25, 1945, in Turner Douglas, he was the son of the late Ray and Carrie (Kisner) Martin.
Joe, a lifelong area resident, attended Southern High School and devoted more than 60 years to his craft as a highly skilled auto body technician, expertly repairing and restoring vehicles for several local businesses. With a keen eye for detail and a steady hand, he took pride in making damaged cars look and feel brand new again, earning the respect of customers and colleagues alike. In his spare time, Joe loved woodworking, turning pieces of timber into beautiful furniture and keepsakes. Above all, he treasured the companionship of his faithful dog Blue, who was by his side through every project, every workday, and every quiet evening at home.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sarah "Sally" (White) Martin, to whom he was married on May 28, 1971; two brothers, Stanley "Sonny" Martin and wife Andrea of Oakland, and David Martin and wife Ann of Oakland; and three sisters-in-law, Leoda Martin, Judy Martin, and Freda Martin; along with numerous nieces and nephews - he was lovingly known as everyone's uncle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ray "Bob" Martin, James Martin, William Martin, George Martin, and Richard "Dick" Martin.
Joe's request for cremation was honored. There are no services scheduled at this time.
The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel is honored to be serving the Martin family.
