Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home - BarreST. JOHNSBURY - Mary Ann McKeon, age 89 and Joseph Patrick McKeon, age 92, passed away peacefully in Newport, Vermont, just days apart on October 30 and November 01, 2025. Their extraordinary 67-year marriage was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and devotion.
Both Joseph and Mary Ann were born in New York, New York and shortly after graduating from Iona University, Joseph met Mary Ann, and a chance encounter led to a lifelong bond. They were married in New York in November of 1957 and spent the next 16 years there starting a family and building a life together filled with warmth, resilience, and joy. In 1973, they moved to Barre, Vermont, remaining there for 44 years before moving to Saint Johnsbury in 2017. Together, they created homes that welcomed all - a place of comfort, laughter, and enduring love.
Mary Ann spent her career in banking working at First Vermont Bank, Bank of Vermont and, finally, Key Bank, while Joseph volunteered playing classical guitar at local senior homes, and delivering communion as a Eucharist Minister. Both enjoyed their volunteer roles at Central Vermont Hospital and Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital as it provided them opportunities over the years to serve the communities they loved so much.
They are both preceded in death by their daughter, Barbara McKeon and are survived by four children: James McKeon and his wife Dawn of Pingree Grove, Illinois; Stephen McKeon and his wife Cheryl of Falls Church, Virginia; Elizabeth Dymek and her husband Edward of Spencer, Massachusetts; Patrick McKeon and his husband George of Chesapeake, Virginia.
Joseph and Mary Ann were proud grandparents too: Isaiah McKeon, Price Davis, Mary Dymek, Emily Montville, John Dymek, Kelsey McKeon, Samuel McKeon, Matthew McKeon and Mitchell McKeon and great-grandparents too: Gentry Davis, Bowyn Davis, Vincent Cordello, Adeline Montville, and Jackson McKeon.
Their legacy lives on in the lives they touched and the love they gave so freely. A joint memorial service will be held at St Monica Church in Barre, Vermont, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11am. Interment will follow to St. Sylvester’s Cemetery in Lower Websterville, VT.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made a charity close to Joseph and Mary Ann’s hearts – Shriners Hospital for Children.
They will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
