Joseph T. McMichael Jr.

Joseph T. McMichael Jr., age 78, of New Castle, PA, passed away the early morning of Jan. 4th at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, in Poland, Ohio.

Born Sept. 4, 1947, in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Jean (Bender) McMichael, Sr.

He was married to Connie (Scarnato) McMichael on July 24, 1971. Mrs. McMichael survives at home.

Joe was a graduate of Laurel High School and Grove City College. He carried a strong sense of responsibility and pride as the office manager of Connerly Cleaners. He gave generously of his time as a member of the Laurel Lions Club, the Laurel School Board, and Masonic Lodge. He previously served as president of the Lawrence County chapter of the American Cancer Society. Joe enjoyed golfing, hunting, reading, and traveling, especially vacationing in Aruba, a place that brought him great joy and relaxation. Above all else, family meant everything to Joe. He was a faithful member of Harlansburg Presbyterian Church for 48 years.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children, Jennifer Blasko and her husband Mike, of New Wilmington, PA, and Joseph T. McMichael III, and his wife, Rachel (Harvey) McMicheal of New Castle, PA; five grandchildren, Michael Blasko, Megan Blasko, Andrew Blasko, Aodhan McMichael and Patrick McMichael.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Bailey and Donna O'Brien.

Visitation will be held on Sunday Jan. 11th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 4:00 PM with Pastor Jason Dunn of Harlansburg Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
