Joseph Lee Miska

Joseph L. "Joe" Miska, 94, of Ord passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Arbor Care Center in Ord, Nebraska.
Joseph Lee was born April 21, 1930, at Ord, Nebraska to Frank J. and Mary Elizbeth "Pearl" (Schamp) Miska. He was raised on the family farm in the Haskell Creek area of Valley County where he attended country school and graduated from Ord High School in 1948.
Joe was united in marriage to Norma J. Manchester on March 5, 1951, at Ord, Nebraska. Joe and Norma first lived on the family farm with Joe's parents, Frank and Pearl until Joe was called to serve in the Army. While Joe was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri Norma accompanied him until he was deployed to Korea.
When Joe returned from Korea, he and Norma made their home on the Miska farmstead north of Ord for 64 years where they farmed and raised their family of five.
Joe loved farm life and working with the cattle. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time working alongside his kids and teaching them about the farm. The family would regularly go to church and listen to the Polka show on the radio while in the car. They also had many family trips into town to attend the weekly show at the theater.
Joe was a member of the Ord Christian Church and the VFW.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Franklin of Kearney, Darrel and Patti of Minden and Dean of Ord; two daughters and a son-in-law, W. JoAnne Jensen of North Loup and Susan and Jerry Owen of Chambers; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Whitmore of Holdrege.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma who passed away on September 12, 2016; two brother, Garry and Terry; and two sisters, Delma Mars and Vietta Langren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Ord Christian Church. Pastor Doug Durre will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
