Joseph (Joe) Mobilia, born on May 5, 1954 in Brighton MA to the late Henry and Mary Mobilia, passed away on April 20, 2025.

Joe grew up in Somerville, MA, playing basketball, running track, and fishing at Pillsbury Lake, NH. Joe graduated Matignon High School in 1972 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Physics from University of Massachusetts, Boston and a Master's degree in Physics from Boston College.

While attending the University of Massachusetts, Joe met the love of his life, Rita. They married on June 10, 1979.

Joe and Rita moved to Foster City in 1980, working as a space physist at Lockheed Martin where he designed satellite instruments to study the sun and earth's atmosphere and expand our understanding of the world around us. In 1983, Joe and Rita moved to Cupertino and made it their home for the next 42 years. Joe was a loving husband and father and together with Rita raised three children.

Besides a lifelong love of basketball and other sports, Joe had a love of photography, gardening, and history. Joe especially loved digging into his family's past and discovering who they were.

Joe is survived by his wife, Rita, his children, Sean, Theresa, and Matthew (wife, Aly), and his siblings, Richard (wife, Joan), John (wife, Barbara), and Donna. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary, and by his siblings Henry Jr. (Ricky) (wife Diane, also deceased) and Mary Elizabeth (husband, Tom).

I worked with Joe for over a decade, and he was one of the smartest and most dedicated people I've known. He left a lasting impact on everyone who met him, and he will be deeply missed. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
