Joseph Murawski Obituary

Joseph M. Murawski
Joseph M. Murawski, 81, of Norwalk, CT, passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2023. Born in Stamford, CT to the late Joseph and Angelina (Riante) Murawski, he was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving at Camp Pendleton, CA, and later in Hong Kong and Japan before earning his honorable discharge in 1963.
After moving back to Connecticut, Joe spent the next 59 years in the floor covering business, serving both commercial and residential customers. A standout baseball player in high school, he later shared his passion by coaching youth baseball at all levels. A talented vocalist (with a penchant for "doo-wop"), he encouraged his sons - and grandsons - to pursue their varied musical interests each from an early age. His tireless work ethic, positive attitude and clever wit were each his trademark to family and friends, and often provided comfort to perfect strangers as well. Occasionally counseling at a Connecticut prison, volunteering at a local nursing home or simply lending a helping hand to a neighbor, he made friends easily – and had many of them.
But nothing made him happier than spending time with friends, family and, especially, his grandsons. Whether it was watching them play high-school sports, enjoying a musical performance or simply visiting with them across the kitchen table, he never missed a chance to just spend time catching up.
Joe is survived by his sons; Joseph, and his wife Barbara (Norwalk), his son Darryl (Norwalk), and his beloved grandsons; Michael (San Diego, CA), Christopher (Santa Monica, CA), and Sean (Norwalk, CT); his brother, John (Norwalk); many nieces and nephews; and his loving partner of 25 years, Linda Lyons. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Jean Lasczak.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 25th, 10 a.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, CT 06851.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT at www.regionalhospicect.org or 203.702.7400

Long year without you my friend. I somehow got through life without you, but there were times I was sure you were right there... I'm thinking God includes you in His tight Circle to love on the children and animals.. I'll never forget us stopping at my house before a brought you to your truck from work... I went in the back of my van for a second, and I heard the storm door open and close.. and I though, "oh my Gosh! The dog!!". We had just adopted a 120 pound German shepherd and I forgot to tell you that he hates everybody and bit two people already... I ran to the door frantic and opened it to find you sitting on the floor with King's head on your lap..talking to him and rubbing his ears. I couldn't believe my eyes.. You sure were the animal whisperer, amazing.. definitely one for the books.

I am so saddened by Joe´s passing. Although I didn´t know him well, when we met up in life, we always had interesting conversations. There was so much that he offered and now after reading his obituary, I am greatly saddened to not to have known him better! He was a wonderful man. Big heart hug to Lydia and Darryl and his family.

I knew him as "Butch." He did the floors at my workplace and hand delivered all his invoices. I marveled at his ability to work long and hard on those unforgiving floors and still manage to be so pleasant and jovial. He will be missed. (Laura @ Greenwich Communities) My condolences to his family and friends.

My best friend. Not sure I am deserving of a friend like Joe, but God gave him to me. Loyal, trustworthy, consoling, witty and funny, and boy, could he sing. I miss everything about him, but I know there is rejoicing in heaven.. Love ya brother
