Joseph S. "Joe" Nolde

Joseph S. "Joe" Nolde, 60, of Escanaba, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023 following a brief illness.
He was born on December 25, 1962, son of Louis Henry and Beverly Jean (Hereau) Nolde. Joe attended Escanaba High School and graduated with the class of 1981.
On November 12, 1983, Joe married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Marie LaMarche at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock.
After graduating high school, Joe transported auto parts and then began a welding career. For the next 20 years, Joe worked as a carpenter with Northern Michigan District Council of Carpenters Local 1510.
Joe had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved being "Papa" to his two grandsons. He enjoyed playing card games, watching the Green Bay Packers, and playing golf. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked riding his side by side, hunting, fishing, and get-togethers at camp. Another favorite past time for Joe was cranking his music and socializing over beers with family and friends, who lovingly nicknamed him "Uncle Thirsty".
He was a member of Holy Family Church.
Among survivors include his wife, Deborah of Escanaba; two daughters, Amber (Jay) Hays of Gladstone and Lindsey (Wendell) LaPalm, Jr. of Escanaba; two grandsons, Hunter Joseph Hays and Mason George Hays; siblings, Tammy (Roger) Beauchamp of Flat Rock, Mike (Mary Kay) Nolde and Pat Nolde of Escanaba, Don (Rhonda) Nolde of Bark River, and Tracy (Paul) Spaulding, of Pittsburg, PA; father-in-law, William LaMarche; brothers-in-law, Greg Gardner, Daniel (Roxanne) LaMarche, and Dale (Amy) LaMarche; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Beverly Nolde; sister, Laurie Gardner; his godson and nephew, Nick Nolde; mother-in-law, Arlene Castle; and brother-in-law, David LaMarche.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 10th from 10 a.m. to noon at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon with Rev. Sebastian K. Chacko officiating.
Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of kindness may be directed to the family and a memorial will be established at a later date.
