A Memorial Mass for Joseph Rahm of St. Benedict will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Inurnment will be in the St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Bishop Garrigan Chapel in Algona.
Joseph Louis Rahm was born on August 31, 1934, to Magnus and Rosalia (Neuroth) Rahm. Growing up he attended St. Benedict grade school and graduated from Lu Verne High School.
Joe married Sondra Elbert on June 29, 1955. Beginning their life together in Algona, they soon moved back to St. Benedict to farm and raise their large family. In addition to crop farming, he had dairy cattle and raised hogs. Joe also served the area as a county supervisor for sixteen years. Joe was a lifelong member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church and active in many of the various church activities.
Joe died on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Westview Care Center in Britt. He was 91.
He is survived by his nine children, Chris and wife Coleen of St. Benedict, Geralyn and husband Andy Reising of Wesley, Greg of Wesley, Mark and wife Linda of Mason City, Pat and wife Deb of Wesley, Nick and wife Penny of Lone Rock, Noel of St. Benedict, Sarah and husband Gary Miller of Algona, and Tony and wife Sherry of Algona; 29 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by a brother, Michael Rahm; sister, Judy Rahm; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra on July 4, 2011; his son, Joseph Michael, his daughter Kathryn Jo; a grandson Kellen Rahm; a great-grandson, Collin Rahm; two brothers Patrick and William Rahm; and two sisters, Marilyn Arndorfer, and Diane Holmes; and his parents.
