Joseph (Joe) Rangel Jr., (80), of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on February 25th, 2023 at the House at Midland Care.
Joseph fondly known as Joe, was born to Jose and Rachel (Ortiz) Rangel, on August 13th, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas. His father, Jose died in World War II and he was raised by Fidel (Dale) and Rachel Rangel. He married Dolores (Lola) Carmona on June 6th, 1964 in Topeka, Kansas. Together, they shared almost 60 years of marriage.
Joe retired from Delmonte after 25 years; He was a hard worker and continued to work for the Material Distribution Center, USD 501 and Granado Janitorial, Inc. He also worked with his brother-in-law at ILC of Topeka and Lawrence for over 15 years.
Joe was a member and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where he served as an usher and volunteered at the Mexican Fiesta. He was an avid Kansas Jayhawks fan and loved watching the LA Dodgers and western movies. His greatest joy was spending time with family; and attending all the grandchildren's events. He loved playing the lottery and visiting Las Vegas.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Lola. He is also survived by his two sons Joseph (Joey) Rangel III (Chris) of Topeka and Patrick “Pookie” Rangel (Carrie) of Lawrence. He is also survived by his grandchildren Stefan Rangel (Carolyn), Jaret Rangel and Gabby Rangel, along with great grandchildren Avalyn and Emery. Numerous family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Rangel, Fidel (Dale) and Rachel Rangel.
He will lie in state from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, followed by a rosary at 10:30 am, on Friday, March 3rd, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church of Topeka. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, at the church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.
Memorial contributions can be made in Joe’s memory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
