Funeral services for Joseph Harold Redman, 71, of Newark, will be held at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M., Wednesday, April 3, 2024, with Deacon Patrick Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home, 3-7 P.M., Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
Joe passed away at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was born in Newark, Ohio on January 22, 1953, to the late Bertrum and Anna Eileen (Lake) Redman Sr.
A 1972 graduate of Newark High School, Joe was retired from Geer Gas Corporation and had worked for many years with Wince Welding Supply. He enjoyed tinkering around his garage and working on cars. An avid fan of football, Joe often rooted for The Ohio State Buckeyes, Notre Dame and Cleveland Browns. Above all, Joe was devoted to his family and cherished their time spent together, especially his daughter and 2 grandsons.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 47 years, Barbara (Mentz) Redman; daughter, Billie Jo "BJ" (Paul) Willey; grandsons, Zachary and Levi; siblings, Becky (Dick) Shoults and Jim (Sheree) Redman; sister-in-law, Dawn "Dee" Redman; his wife's siblings, Jean Ritchey, Joan Hutchison, Trish (Ray) Blankenship, Sharon Schroeder, Kathleen Rucker, Tim (Dawn) Mentz, Debbie Mentz, and Kimberley Mentz; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Bertrum Redman Jr. and sisters, Emily Jean Good and Gladys Schooler; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom Mentz, Richard Mentz, Bob Mentz, Mary Alice Mentz, Mary Ann Mentz, and Carol Stires.
