Marjorie Ann Britton, age 91, earned her heavenly wings and entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Licking Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we celebrate the memory of Marjorie who is the rock of her family and one of the purest, kindest souls God ever created.
On August 21, 1934 Marjie was born in
Newark, Ohio and proudly grew up as a "East Ender". Majorie attended Newark High School, where her class voted her the Homecoming Queen in 1952. Marjie graduated with the class of 1953. After graduation, Marjie went on to retire from Licking Memorial Hospital.
Marjie led with her heart that had no boundaries, overflowed endlessly with compassion, generosity, and grace. She believed deeply in placing the needs of others before her own. It was simply who she was. Whether it meant offering food from her own plate, giving up her seat, or quietly carrying someone else's burden, Marjie gave without hesitation and without expectation. Her love was selfless, steady, and unconditional.
But above all else, Marjie's greatest joy, deepest pride, and most treasured accomplishment was her family.
Family was not just important to Marjie; it was her entire world. She was the thread that held everyone together, the steady presence who made sure no one ever felt alone. She remembered the little things: birthdays, milestones, struggles, dreams. She celebrated every victory as if it were her own and carried every worry in prayer. If one family member was hurting, she felt it in her own heart.
Marjie was endlessly proud of the family she helped raise. She spoke of them with awe and gratitude, often marveling at the people they had become. She saw their strengths even when they doubted themselves. She believed in their goodness, their potential, and their purpose. Her pride was never boastful; it was heartfelt and deeply sincere. She truly felt blessed by each member of her family.
She was their biggest supporter - in quiet moments and in loud celebrations. Whether cheering them on through life's challenges, offering wise counsel, or simply sitting beside them in comfort, she was their unwavering anchor. Her home was a safe haven, filled with warmth, understanding, and unconditional acceptance.
Marjie was especially proud of her three daughters, whom she raised with devotion, faith, and tenderness. The kindness, charisma, strength, and values she carried are beautifully reflected in them. They are a direct image of her shining personality and are living examples of her love and guidance. The bond they shared was rooted in mutual respect, deep affection, and shared laughter. They made time for one another, leaned on one another, and cared for each other in the very way she taught them.
Her daughters were not just her children: they were her pride, her companions, and her daily joy. She cherished their time together and treasured the closeness they shared. Through them, her spirit continues to shine brightly.
Marjie's love did not end with her immediate family; it extended to every relative she embraced as her own. She nurtured connection, encouraged togetherness, and believed that family should always remain close in heart, no matter the distance.
Marjie was a devoted Christian. Her faith was not only spoken; it was her compass for all her intentions. Her actions, her thoughts, and her words reflected Christ's love in a way that was authentic and unwavering. She embodied patience, humility, forgiveness, and steadfast devotion. Her family saw her faith daily: in her prayers, her sacrifices, and her quiet strength.
Her compassion extended beyond people. Marjie was a lover of all animals, never passing one by without concern. She would stop to ensure a stray was not hungry or in need of care. To her, every living being mattered. Her gentle spirit recognized vulnerability and responded with kindness.
Marjie never missed an opportunity for coffee, sweets, or a meal without butter.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Marjie's legacy lives on in her daughters and throughout her family. Her compassion lives in their hands. Her faith lives in their hearts. Her love lives in every act of kindness they extend to the world.
Marjie's life was not measured in years, but in the immeasurable love she gave. She leaves behind a legacy of family devotion, selflessness, faith, and unwavering support; a legacy that will continue to shine for generations to come.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters: Jana (Bill) Snedden, Jaye (Rod) Wilder, and Jennifer (Mark) Hogue; grandchildren: Britton Ellis (Caity) Wilder, Evan Elizabeth (Greg) Briggs, Avery Markham Hogue, and Dane Ericson Hogue; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marjie was preceded in death by her siblings: Judy (Ed) Hitchcock, Tom Britton, and Richard Cocanour.
Visitation will be held from 11AM-12NOON on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Heath Church of Christ; 1331 Chapel Way, Heath, Ohio 43056. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 12NOON. Immediately following, the graveside will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
