Joseph Elwood Roberts Sr., more familiarly known as "Joe", was born June 27, 1943 in Washington DC to Harolyne Lynda Lewis Roberts and James Edward Roberts Sr. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is proceeded in death by his parents and his eldest son Joseph Roberts Jr., a proud US Marine. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years Donna P. Roberts; three children, Linda George of Dumfries VA and twins Danny Roberts (Jenny) of Winchester VA and Patricia Roberts of Fredericksburg VA; two brothers, James Roberts Jr. (Carolyn) and Thomas Roberts Sr. (Linda), both of Fredericksburg, VA. Also, survived by seven grandchildren; Lindsey George, Alexa Weinstein (Sam), Steven Roberts, Amanda Roberts, Monica Roberts, Cassia Brewer( Ernest) and Chelsea Roberts( Sydney); two great grandsons, Reid and Roman Weinstein; and many nieces and nephews. He attended public schools in Fairfax County and graduated from Groveton High School.. He worked several jobs with his last being for Stafford County from which he retired. He had a brief stent in the United States Navy. Joe was a man you either loved or couldn't stand. He wasn't afraid to express what was on his mind at any given time. Those who knew him will always remember his distinctive laugh. Joe loved to have a good time playing Texas hold 'em and throwing back a few beers with his friends and family. He loved music and dancing and in their younger years, Donna and Joe were known to cut the rug doing the jitterbug. He enjoyed bowling and loved dogs probably more than people (most likely because they didn't talk back). He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, collecting thousands of memorabilia of them. He enjoyed family gatherings, and just partying the night away. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He enjoyed slot machines and his scratch tickets. Joe was a happy go lucky kind of guy. There was never a dull moment in his presence. In the past few years, he became ill, but fought long and hard never giving up in the days before his passing. He passed away peacefully with his devoted wife by his side. His work here on earth was done, there is no more pain or suffering. He entered into his eternal life on September 21, 2024 at 6:15 AM. He will be deeply missed by many.

Donna, may all the good memories of your 62 wonderful years with Joe comfort you in your time of sadness.

Donna & Joe moved in next door to us and remember how organized he liked to keep his garage as he was always doing work out there. He loved his dog Sebastian and always had an extra treat for our dog. Joe was a very generous man and would give you the shirt off his back. May he rest in peace.
