Joseph Aaron Rybka, 47, of Springfield, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2025, at Pete Moore Hospice in Eugene. Born on July 24, 1978, in Eugene, Joseph spent his life in the community he loved.
Joseph worked in the food industry throughout his career, most recently serving as a manager at Big Town Hero. He was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and the charm and warmth he carried with him everywhere he went.
Outside of work, Joseph lived life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He enjoyed fishing and floating the McKenzie River, charter crabbing and fishing trips out of Newport, camping, listening to music, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Oregon Ducks, Seattle Seahawks, and LA Lakers. He also collected 1980s basketball sports cards and Garbage Pail Kids, enjoyed reading sci-fi and fantasy, and liked playing Call of Dragons. His furry four-legged Wittle Phil was always by his side.
Joseph was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church, where he found strength through his many health challenges. He met each one head-on with courage and his characteristic charm. In the months before his passing, he had been doing much better, making his unexpected loss due to a massive stroke all the more difficult for those who loved him.
He is survived by his parents Jerry Rybka & Keila (Reed) Rybka, brother Kevin Rybka, his sisters Larissa (Rybka) Carrillo and Jessica Rybka, his niece Issy Rybka and his best friend Jake Whitmer.
Joseph will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
