Joe was born and raised on South Clarion Street in Philadelphia, PA to the late Lewis and Mary Scalise, but has been residing in Mt. Laurel for over 48 years. He worked for Smith-Edwards-Dunlap Printing for over 30 years, retiring as President in 2005. In his free time, he enjoyed nothing more than 'going out for a cup of coffee' to meet and talk with new people. His last several years were spent holding court at the Pie Lady Café in Moorestown. He also enjoyed traveling and cheering on his Philadelphia Eagles. But above all else, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his beloved spouse of over 58 years, Anna Scalise (nee Valente); children, Maryanne Loughran (Stephen), and Joseph M. Scalise (Abigail Doolittle); grandchildren, Victoria and Nicholas Loughran, and Henry and Thomas Scalise; sister, Rita Mihalitsch
Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 10:00-11:30AM, and a memorial service immediately following at 11:30. Both will be held at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Rd., Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donation in Joe's memory may be made to the American Lung Association.

Joe Scalise hired me at SED in 1982. It was my first "real" job. Now that I'm retired, I've never forgotten him. He was patient, generous, funny & honest. When I left for 'greener pastures' he said "I wish I could have meant your father". What a nice thing to say. God belss you Joe Scalise.
