On January 4, 2025, our family lost our patriarch, Joseph Francis Scully Sr. (Joe). Joe was born on February 12, 1939 to Anna Scully (nee Buchanan) and Edward Scully. He was their youngest child.
He is predeceased by his sister Dorothy Griffin (nee Scully) and brother James Scully. Joe met the love of his life, his wife Patricia Ann Scully (nee Dunn) when they were 15 years old. They married on May 24, 1958, and have four children Anne Snodgrass Johnston (John Snodgrass, deceased and Raymond Johnston), Patricia Collins (David), Joseph Francis Scully Jr. (Cheryl) and Edward Thomas Scully (Colleen). Joseph and Patricia have eight grandchildren Edward Thomas Scully Jr. (Emily), Brittany Greer (Patrick), Eric Collins (Kara), Joseph Francis Scully III (Maria), Jessa Smith (Tanner), Shannon Tangradi (Richard), Jenna Muska (Benjamin) and Tyler Collins (Ally). Joseph and Patricia have eleven great grandchildren Harper Tangradi, Kennedy Greer, Hazel Tangradi, Quinn Collins, Lily Collins, Winona Scully, Wyatt Tangradi, Charlotte Scully, Tess Collins, Maisy Collins, and Joseph Francis Scully IV.
Joe was a proud alumnus of Northeast Catholic High School. He was a military veteran and an avid Eagles fan. However, Joe's greatest joy was his love for and marriage to Patricia. Their lifetime of love and devotion has been a wonderful example of what marriage is and should be. It is truly two people loving and supporting each other through good and bad times, through sickness and health, raising their children together, supporting each other when their own parents died and taking care of each other along the way when each had health issues, enjoying their children getting married and starting families of their own and then watching their grandchildren get married and making them great-grandparents all the while staying best friends, staying in love and making each other their top priority, their biggest achievement, their greatest love.
Joe was a loving father to his four children and doting grandfather to his eight grandchildren and 11 (soon to be 12) great grandchildren. He was a loving brother-in- law and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
On January 4, 2025 our family lost our hero, our biggest advocate, our greatest fan, our moral compass and guidance. We are honored to call you Husband, Dad, Pop-Pop, and G-Pop-Pop. Not a day will go by that we won't miss you. We will carry our love for you with us forever.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in Joe's memory to the American Lung Association or the Northeast Catholic Alumni Fund. Joe graduated in the class of 1957.
