We joined the Navy and went to boot camp at Great Lakes, Illinois along with several others from Butler, PA. We occasionally would meet in Butler, while working my way through college. You were a great person to count as a friend coming from California/Texas. Rest in Peace.

You may now retire your seabag. You are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The carrier has turned into the wind preparing for your final launch. The plank is in place and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate. A Navy Vietnam Veteran.

Joe was my very close friend when I lived in Butler. He helped me in many ways.
When I was in college he hired me as a part-time bartender. Although I currently live in Zanesville Ohio we remained close friends. I prepared his tax returns for over the last 20 years. I called hima couple of weeks before he passed away. I will certainly miss him and his friendship.
