Joseph Short Obituary
He was born on July 28, 1959, in Knox to Stuart and Diane (Morley) Short. On August 30, 1980, he married the love of his life, Annette (Messer), in San Pierre. Joe spent many years working as a mechanic with Materna Farms before his retirement. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a past member of the Fish Lake American Legion.
Joe was a simple man who found joy in life's everyday moments. He loved working on old tractors, relaxing on the porch, and spending time at family gatherings. Above all else, he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great pride and happiness.
He is survived by his loving wife, Annette; five children, Amber (Brian) Minix, Melissa (Chad Womack) Short, Michael (Lisa) Short, Jennifer (Keith) Tarr, and Christopher (Naomi) Short; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his mother, Diane Short; two brothers, Stuart "Sonny" (Stella) Short and Bob (Helen) Short; and two sisters, Kathy Warrick and Amy Short.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stuart Short.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM CST on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Round Lake Cemetery.
