Joseph G. Shosh, 82, formerly of Red Hill, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, at Mount Carmel Senior Living where he had been residing. Born in Mount Carmel, PA, he was the son of the late Gaza and Mary (Galley) Shosh. He was the loving husband of the late Eva A. (Fantini) Shosh with whom he was married for many years before her passing in 2009.
Joseph was employed for Cardinal Container in Mount Carmel for many years before becoming a state prison guard at Graterford State Prison, where he dedicated ten years of his life and retired in 1976.
He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Pennsburg.
An avid lover of horses, Joseph owned, trained, rode and cared for them with love and dedication. In addition to his love for horses, Joseph enjoyed the tranquility of nature through hunting and fishing, often spending leisurely days outdoors.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Shosh and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Jasmine Amey, Reanne Snyder, Christopher Thomas and Jaqueline Thomas; great-grandchildren, Rosie, Riley, Milli and Aveya; sister, Eleanor Shervinski; and brother, John Shosh. In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by two sons, Eric and Joseph Shosh.
A viewing will be held at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 from 10 to 11 AM on Friday, December 19, 2025 with a service to follow. Burial will take place after the service in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. You may leave online condolences by visiting www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com
