Joseph W. Stem, affectionately known as Waylon, was born on January 1, 2018, in Hanover, Pennsylvania. He was the 1st baby born of the new year. He lived with joyful innocence and brought warmth to the lives of those around him. Sadly, he passed away on January 31, 2025, in his sleep at his residence, leaving behind a loving family.
Waylon was a superhero who was an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with. From birth he was forced to deal with polymicrogyria and cerebral palsy, He worked hard every day despite his disabilities and was the most courageous, loving, and happy little boy you could meet.
Waylon is survived by his devoted mother, Heather Adams; stepfather, Aaron Hathaway; father, Joseph Stem. He is also cherished by his four sisters and one brother, who will always hold dear the memories of their beloved sibling. His familial roots run deep, with grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins who adored him and cherished the moments they spent together.
Waylon's life was a testament to love and family, despite its brief duration. He touched the hearts of many, and his spirit will be lovingly remembered.
A visitation will be held on February 5, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, Iowa. This will be followed by a memorial service starting at 5:00 PM.
