Joseph Taylor

Joseph R. Taylor, 48, of Walkerton, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, following injuries he sustained doing what he loved, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Born on June 29, 1977, in LaPorte to the late George and Janet (Awald) Taylor, Joe lived in the area his entire life and worked proudly as a pipefitter through Pipefitters Local 172 out of South Bend. More than anything, Joe loved being a dad. His happiest moments were spent with his children, whether traveling, at a game, or sharing a good meal. His spirit, loyalty, and love for his kids were what drove him. The Smoky Mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, held a special place in his heart, and he often dreamed of retiring there. Joe also loved boating, shooting guns, and taking care of his beloved dogs, Harlie and Davidson. He enjoyed chicken wings, Mango Cart, a cold Bud Light, and driving his Ford trucks and Harleys. Joe was an adventurer at heart. He had a passion for the open road, especially on his Harley-Davidson. He loved traveling, especially to Daytona Bike Week, which became an annual tradition. He found joy in the thrill of amusement parks, the excitement of football games, and the peace of a quiet fishing spot. Joe is survived by his three children: Devin Joseph (Kassie Harding) Taylor, Andrew (Drew) Stone Taylor, and Janiston Kay Taylor; his sister Lisa Clifton; his brother George Taylor; his niece Jaden Clifton; his two dogs Harlie and Davidson; and the mother of Janiston, Tanisha Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Janet. A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home, 8020 N. 1000 East, Walkerton, IN 46574, on Sunday, August 10th, from Noon to 8:00 PM EST. Friends and family are welcome to stop by, share stories, and honor Joe in the way he would have wanted-casual, heartfelt, and full of love. No additional services or viewing will be held. In memory of Joe, the family asks you to raise a toast, have a laugh with family and friends, share a good meal, and remember him next time you ride.
