Joseph Terronez, 85, of Carbon Cliff, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis-Illini, Silvis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with recitation of the rosary at 3 p.m. Graveside service with military honors will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Van Hoe Funeral Home by 9:30 a.m. to process over to the cemetery.
Joseph was born on August 27, 1940, in Silvis, the son of Emiliano and Anita (Cobas) Terronez. He worked in construction and as a semi-truck driver. Joseph was an avid reader and was always listening to music. When his son was growing up, he coached his little league baseball team. Joseph enjoyed playing craps at the casino and playing the lottery when the prizes got high. He will be remembered as a great man, always lending a helping hand to anybody who needed it. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, friends and his cats.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Danielle Carter; son, Michael Terronez; grandchildren, Isabella, Briana, and Dylan Carter; companion, Delores Vermost; eight siblings; numerous nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Gunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings.
