Joseph F. Thell

Joseph "Joe" Thell, of Cedar Park, TX, passed away at home surrounded by his immediate family on June 7, 2024, at the age of 68. He was born on March 10, 1956, in St. Paul, MN, to Michael and Doris (Christensen) Thell. Joe was a loving husband, amazing father, and adoring grandfather.
Joe married his wife, of 38yrs, Darlene (Griffith) in August 1985, in St. Paul, MN. They blended their families of Kelly, Tina, and Joe. A year later they had a child of their own, Cory.
In July of 1988, the family moved to Austin, TX for his job with 3M where he worked until 2012, but fully retired in 2021, after 41yrs. The Thell family moved to Cedar Park, TX in March 1989, where they still live. In 2008 Joe suffered the ultimate loss when his son Joe passed away.
Joe's favorite hobby was golf, even in the hot Texas summers. But he most enjoyed watching and being involved in his kids' hobbies and extracurriculars. From youth sports to school extra curriculars, he would be there. From coaching to spectator to being a Dancing Dad, he was so proud of all 4 of his kids. He would do anything and everything he could for them. He proudly walked his girls down the aisle, even when his disability told him no, and his "allergies" caused him to cry. He was blessed with 7 Grandchildren and was wrapped around their little fingers instantly. Joe attended every grandkid's event until his disability made it no longer possible, but he was always ready to hear how it went when everyone got home!
Joe is survived by his wife Darlene, daughters Kelly (Albert) Cantwell, Tina (Jason) Culak, and son Cory (Amber) Thell. And 7 beautiful grandchildren, Caleb, Kinsley, and Kaycee Cantwell; Lane and Mae Culak; Declan and Ryker Thell. Joe's two brothers Mike Thell of St. Paul, MN and Marty (Julie) Thell of Lino Lakes, MN. As well as nephews from each of his brothers.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Mike and Doris Thell; his beloved son Joseph; his sister-in-law Gail Thell; his brother Hank Thell, and nephew Quentin Thell.
There will be a Public Visitation on Friday, June 21,2024 at Beck Funeral Home 1700 E Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park, TX 78613 from 6-8pm.
