Joseph Timan Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Timan, lovingly known as "Sonny". Loving father, devoted husband, and cherished friend. He left us on 10/6/2024, at the age of 90 yrs old. He joins his beloved wife, Carol, who preceded him in death on September 15, 2019.
Born on September 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen Timan. He was raised and educated in Yonkers, NY and later became a resident of Barryville, NY before moving to the Bronx.
He married Carol Amorossi in August 1966. They lovingly raised eight children together. Predeceased by his two sons, John Edward Wixon and Eric James Timan, and a daughter-in-law Gail (DiBernardo) Wixon. Joe leaves behind his six children, Catherine (Wixon) Riina, her husband Vincent, daughter-in-law Karen Wixon, William Wixon and his wife Jacqueline, James Wixon, Irene Timan, Tara Timan and Wayne Timan and his wife Katie. He was blessed to have twelve cherished grandchildren; Christina, Alyssa, Alexis, Erica, Ashley, Michael, Vinny Boy, Joanna, Nicholas, Anthony, Christa and Gia, as well as one beautiful great grandson, Elijah. He also leaves behind his siblings Pamela (Timan) Archer, Peter Timan and is predeceased by his sister Barbara "Tootsie" (Timan) Ricciardi.
Joseph proudly served our country in the United States Navy and fought in the Korean War. He went on to become a United States postal worker and ultimately started Timan Landscaping in Yonkers and Barryville, NY. He truly enjoyed gardening, sports, playing cards, a nice cold Coors Light and spending time with his family. Joseph will always be remembered for his big heart and outgoing fun-loving personality.
As we say goodbye, we take comfort in the memories of his laughter, kindness, and love-a love that has reunited him with Carol.
