Joseph "Papa Joe" Tulo, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Hines, Illinois. Born on April 10, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, Joseph lived a long and meaningful life rooted in love for his family and a deep sense of service. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Joseph served his country with honor. His dedication to duty was matched only by his devotion to those he held dear. Known affectionately as "Papa Joe," he was a constant presence in the lives of his loved ones-always ready to lend a hand or offer support when it was needed most. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Barbara and their three children: Theresa, David, and Kathy. He was a cherished father-in-law to Adelina, Tom, and Joe. As a grandfather, he brought joy and warmth to Nick, Joey, Natalie, Buddy, and Tug. His legacy continues through his great-grandson Memphis. Joseph was also a beloved brother to Julie, Dorthy, and Bobby. He had a passion for cars and computers-interests that brought him both excitement and satisfaction throughout the years. Whether tinkering under the hood or exploring the digital world from behind a screen, Joseph found joy in the things he loved. But above all else, he treasured being called "Papa Joe," a name that reflected the deep affection felt for him by generations of family. Those who knew Joseph remember him as a good man-a devoted husband and father who always put others first. His kindness and reliability left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye to Papa Joe, we hold close the words that echo his enduring presence: "Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day… Unseen, unheard, but always near-still loved, still missed and very dear." May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 South Cass Ave Darien. A funeral service will be held that evening at the funeral home at 7:00 pm.
