Born on April 4, 1974, in
Chicago, Illinois, Paul was the beloved son of Dr. Santo and Anita (nee Serritella) Signorino. From an early age, he displayed both curiosity and determination-qualities that guided him throughout his life and career. After graduating from Northwestern University, he continued his education at the American University of the Caribbean, where he earned his medical degree. He went on to complete his general surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin and in 2009 became a Fellow of the American Collee of Surgeons, a milestone that reflected his deep commitment to his craft.
Paul joined the University of Chicago faculty in 2021 as a clinical associate. As a surgeon, Paul combined technical mastery with compassion, earning the respect of his colleagues and patients alike. He approached every patient with empathy and every challenge with quiet resolve. Prior to joining UChicago Medicine, he spent more than a decade caring for patients with DuPage Medical Group. During that time, he served as former Chair of the Department of Surgery at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and played a key role on multiple committees. His thoughtful leadership and commitment to excellence left a lasting imprint on patients and peers.
Beyond his career, Paul's life was rich in love and adventure. He shared a deep and joyful bond with his wife, Dr. Angelica Tolentino, his partner in everything from musical evenings filled with jazz to travels near and far. Together they built a beautiful life centered on family, laughter, and mutual respect. Together they raised their twins, Raphael and Ramona, who were both the light of his life and the source of his boundless energy. He delighted in their curiosity and creativity, encouraging them to embrace the same sense of adventure that defined him. Fatherhood was his greatest joy. Paul's loyalty as a family man was matched by his steadfast friendships-he was the one people turned to for advice, encouragement, and laughter.
Paul embraced life with energy and style. Known for his sharp mind and sophisticated taste, he was the epitome of classy and confident. He had an enduring passion for cars and watches, often sharing that enthusiasm with friends who knew just how much joy these pursuits brought him. An outdoorsman at heart, Paul loved cycling, running, scuba diving, skiing, and even recently took up fishing, always eager to learn and experience something new.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Angelica, his cherished children Ramona and Raphael, his fur baby Rio, his dear sister Francesca Lanuza (Byron), his parents-in- law, Drs.
