Joseph Tusing Obituary
Joe is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Meadows Tusing of Harrisonburg, VA, his daughter, Gretchen (Brad) Tusing Hendricks of McLean, VA, his granddaughter, Zoe Elizabeth Hendricks of McLean, VA, his sister, Judith Tusing Pattee of Winchester, VA and two nieces, Amy Pattee (Ben Florin), and Ellie (Kevin) Esmond and son Paul. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Henkel.
Joe was preceded in death by his younger sister, Elizabeth Ann (Tusing) Dart and his parents Henry and Bessie. Joe's mother instilled in him a love of history, especially the history of the Henkel family. Joe devoted many years to caring for the Henkel House in New Market, VA, and gave guided tours to both locals and tourists.
The family extends their gratitude to the caregivers that supported us throughout Joe's illness. Even to his final days, Joe maintained his sense of humor.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14th from 3-5 p.m. at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway, VA and a memorial service celebrating Joe's life on Sunday, March 15th at 3 p.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market, VA. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Market, VA with a reception back at Reformation Lutheran.
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Winchester Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Winchester, VA.
