Joseph Vranesh

 It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Joseph "Joe" Vranesh, who passed away peacefully at home on the morning of September 24th, 2023. A beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and pillar of the Las Vegas community, Joe was born on May 7, 1929, in Hibbing, Minnesota, to his mother, Amelia, wife of Marco Vranesh who died during Joe's youth. Joe quickly became his mother's unwavering support alongside his eight brothers and one sister. From a young age, he displayed a remarkable work ethic and sense of responsibility that would define his life.

After marrying Vivian Nadine Jensen, Joe was drafted into the US Army and relocated to Las Vegas. Here, he embarked on a career as a medic at the Nevada Test Site, where his courage and dedication were evident as he bravely accompanied scientists to 17 atomic blasts.

Returning to civilian life, Joe resumed his work in the grocery business, managing several markets before acquiring the historic Stewart Market in downtown Las Vegas. He transformed it into a cherished institution and later established the renowned Brothers Markets, which earned a reputation as destination stores in the valley, thanks to their exceptional meat market, deli, and bakery.

In a phase of life when most contemplate retirement, Joe embarked on new ventures in local and international real estate development. With multiple shopping plazas for over two decades, he dedicated himself to helping small businesses get their start, leaving an enduring mark on the local entrepreneurial landscape.

Joe's passions extended beyond business. He was an avid outdoorsman who found solace in fishing and hunting, often sharing these cherished pastimes with his children and grandchildren. His love for hockey contributed to the now-thriving Las Vegas hockey community, as Joe was involved in establishing the semi-professional Gamblers hockey team as well as the IHL's Thunder.

Joe's commitment to the Serbian community in Las Vegas will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched through his support and involvement.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Kristin Vranesh-Fallin, of Las Vegas, Jill Vranesh of San Diego, and son, Mark Vranesh of Las Vegas. Joe's legacy lives on through Jill's children, Alaina Reed and Jonathan Neal, and their families, including great-grandchildren Jackson and George, who brought immeasurable joy during the final chapters of his remarkable and generous life.

Joseph "Joe" Vranesh's memory will remain eternally cherished by his family, friends, and the community he so deeply impacted. His enduring spirit and legacy will serve as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his absence will be deeply felt by the countless lives he touched.
