Josephine, "Jo" Cynthia Aiken, age 91, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024. Jo is survived by her husband of 71 years, Hugh Aiken; two daughters, Susan Aiken Anderson (Tommy) and Debbie Aiken Fain (Robert); two sons, James Aiken and David Aiken (Amy Hinshaw); 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard Thomas Aiken and Kim Mabile Aiken.
Jo was born in Tilden, Texas, March 19, 1933, and is the daughter of Robert and Jesusa Diaz. She was the third oldest of 10 children which shaped her feisty personality. Jo married Hugh Aiken, May 23, 1953, in Laredo, Texas and traveled to various places as United States Air Force spouse.
Jo had a passion for cooking and spending time with family and friends. She would sometimes substitute in Henderson County schools and loved all children. Jo was a member of First Baptist Church, Hendersonville and enjoyed her circle meetings.
There will be a family burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Brevard. The family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice, especially nurses Kendra and Jeff for their gentle, kind care. Memorial gifts may be made to Four Seasons Hospice or a charity of your choice.
