Josephine L. Barncastle, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends who cherished her dearly.
Born in Mesilla, New Mexico, Josephine was the beloved daughter of Pedro and Cesaria Lucero. She was raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she graduated from Las Cruces Union High School.

She married the love of her life, Anthony Barncastle, and together, they built a life filled with love and resilience.
A woman of deep faith, Josephine was a devout Catholic and found great comfort in reciting the rosary every day and intercession of her favorite patron, St. Jude’s.
She was known for her witty sense of humor, quick smile, and her love of dogs—especially her cherished companion, Kato, whom she spoke of often and fondly. Her favorite pass time was to take a ride to see the mountains and clouds. She also loved to sit in the sun and admired flowers.
Josephine is survived by her daughter Judy A Dodd and granddaughter Cheyenne who reside in Alabama and many nieces and nephews.
Josephine is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Barncastle, two sisters; Anita Dimatteo and Mary Weiss, three brothers; Tony, Joe, and Manuel Lucero. Her parents Pedro and Cesaria Lucero.
