Josephine Bittenbender Obituary
Josephine was a graduate of Liberty High School and was a devoted and lifelong member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Allentown. Briefly working for the Bethlehem Steel, Josephine then strongly became the matriarch of her family. She expressed her love through cooking and baking, filling her home with comfort and tradition. In her quiet moments, Josephine enjoyed challenging herself with crosswords and cryptograms. She found joy in gardening and loved dancing the polka with her husband Donald at Musikfest to Jolly Joe Timmers, the UKE Club and the Fearless Fire Company. Josephine adored her family, especially her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the heart and caretaker of her family, always putting others before herself. Her loving smile could brighten any room, and she was always there when you needed her. Josephine will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Surviving is her son: Michael V. Bittenbender and his wife Debra. Daughter: Donna M. wife of Randall Pollinger. Sister: Anita wife of Anthony Glovas. Grandchildren: Kaleena Hess and her husband David, Alyssa Bittenbender and her partner Bill, Dahlia Bittenbender, and step granddaughter Christina Pearl and her husband Robert, Travis Pollinger and his wife Michelle, Shane Pollinger and his partner Jazmine, Corey Pollinger and his wife Nicole. Great Grandchildren: Dominic, Mia, Maze, Josh, Daveena. Josephine was predeceased by her siblings: Joseph, Anthony, Michael, Julie, and Elizabeth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30AM on Saturday February 7, 2026, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Allentown. Calling Hours will be 9:00-11:00AM at the O'Donnell Funeral Home, 908 Hanover Ave. Allentown, PA 18109. Burial will take place at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.
