Josephine Anna Campbell, 96, formerly from Joplin, MO passed away at 9:45 a.m. Thursday May 22, 2025. "Jo" Campbell, as she was affectionately known, was born April 2, 1929 in Joplin. She moved to Mt. Vernon with her husband Jack Campbell where she was a homemaker and a daycare nursery owner and operator for over 30 years. She was affectionately known by her daycare children as "Momma Jo" and "Jo-Jo."
Jo was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Joplin. While living in Mt. Vernon she was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a teacher to mostly preschool aged children. She served as a Vacation Bible School teacher and director for nearly 40 years with her focus always on preschooler's.
Josephine married Jack Campbell on April 21, 1950 and was preceded in death by him in 1994. Also preceding her in death were a son, David Campbell; granddaughter, Brittany Campbell; grandson, Casey Jack Campbell; five brothers, Oliver, Bob, Bill, Richard and Johnny; five sisters, Leona, Georgia, Alberta, Bonnie and Shirley.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Doug and Millie Campbell Ruskin, FL and Darrel and Pam Campbell Mt. Vernon, MO, 10 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren with 1 on the way.
A celebration of life service will be held at Parker Mortuary on Monday, June 2, 2025 beginning with visitation at 10 a.m. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. and Rev. Charles Graham will officiate. Jo Campbell will be interned at Osborne Memorial Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Fairview Baptist Church of Joplin in care of the mortuary.
Funeral services are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
