David Earl Jeffers, 71, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at

Freeman Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving wife at his side. He

was born on April 15, 1954, in Joplin to the late Theodore and Helen (Jordan) Jeffers.

David grew up in the Oak Grove area and attended local schools. Following his education, he

became a highly skilled mechanic in the Joplin community, specializing in muffler fabrication.

Over the years, he owned and operated DJ's Muffler and Howard's Muffler, earning the trust

and respect of countless customers and friends. Known for his love of taking things apart and

rebuilding them, David's mechanical talents were a gift that many friends and family relied on.

His enthusiasm for his craft was matched by his passion for NASCAR and dirt track racing, a

favorite topic of conversation with those who knew him best along with his great sense of

humor.

David married Ruth Box on August 3, 1998, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She survives him,

along with their children: son David B. Jeffers of Kansas City, Missouri, and step-sons Todd

Atkins and Jason Atkins, both of Joplin. He was a proud grandfather to Dawson Jeffers, Titus

Atkins, and Megan Atkins. His sisters-Darlene Rodriguez of Joplin, Barbara York of Webb

City, and Norma Hampton (Rick) of Overland Park, Kansas-along with many nieces,

nephews, and extended family members, also mourn his passing. David was preceded in

death by his parents and one brother Reynolds Eugene Jeffers.

David's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and a memorial service will

be held at 1:00pm on September 9, 2025 at Oak Grove Community Church located at 7230

Hwy NN, Joplin, Missouri.

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Parker Mortuary,Joplin, Missouri.

Flowers will be received at 6445 NN Hwy, Joplin, Missouri, 64804 by a family
