Josephine (Josie) E. Canova passed away peacefully at home in Long Valley, NJ, on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was 80.

Josie was born on March 19, 1945, at Nyack Hospital. She grew up in Piermont, NY, and was one of seven children. After graduating from Tappan Zee High School in Orangeburg, NY, she attended Rockland Community College. She then worked as an administrative assistant until she retired. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Church in Long Valley. Josie was a nature lover, who enjoyed long walks, and gardening. She also loved animals, especially cats, and rescued many over the years. She also enjoyed making wreaths and other crafts. Most of all, Josie was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother.

Josie is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Remo Canova, her daughter, Emily Klatt (Andrew), and her granddaughters, Julia and Jenna. She is also survived by her sisters, Jenny Daiello (Bill) and Kathy Hnat, her brother, Bill Hnat, her sister-in-law, Fran Hnat, and her brothers-in-law, Joe D'Innocenzo and George Molito.

Josie was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Emilia Hnat, her sisters MaryAnn D'Innocenzo and Helen Molito, her brother, Steve Hnat, and her brother-in-law, Ed Dembitz.
