Josephine Ann Mostaccio (nèe Flannery), known as Jo to her friends and family, passed away on October 4, 2025, in Valatie, NY.

Jo was born in Poughkeepsie, NY, to Mother Agnes Flannery on April 8,

1946. She grew up in Stanfordville, NY, on a farm where she learned to drive tractors and throw hay bales. She went to high school at Pine

Plains Central School and graduated in 1964. Upon high school graduation she lived in a number of places including a studio apartment in Albany which she always spoke fondly about. She worked as a nurse at Cardinal Hayes for many years and then married her husband Peter on October 25,

1975. She then moved to Dickinson Center to start a self-sufficiency farm with her husband Peter. Years later, Jo and Peter moved to Redhook, where they lived for 35 years, and started COFH Inc. and CCR, where she worked as bookkeeper and secretary until retirement. Jo and Peter bought a home and retired to Valatie to be closer to her family. Jo built her life around people who she loved the most, her family, who were her everything. She found her greatest joy being surrounded by those she loved and she never let distance come between them. Jo wrote often and stayed in touch with everyone. Jo was a farm girl at heart, always cooking, canning, baking, and gardening. She enjoyed reading, crafting, and her annual Maine trip with her family.

Jo is survived by her husband Peter of 50 years; her son Eric Mostaccio and his daughters Evelyn and Lilian; her daughter Jessica Casey and her husband Sean with their children Madeleine, Jack, and Rocco, and Mara Bazdaric-Russell who became part of the family. Jo is also lovingly remembered by her nieces; Andrea Lawrence, Karen Cable, Mariyah Hereth, Shoshanna Carlino, and nephews; Kevin Rumsey, Jessie Carlino, and Josiah

Carlino. Memorial donations may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, or Running Strong for American Indian Youth.
