Josephine (Pepca) Jurkovic (nee Golobic), age 91 of Euclid, OH, passed away on Monday, January 6, at Hillcrest Hospital, Mayfield Heights, OH. surrounded by her loving children after a lengthy illness.
She was born December 15, 1933 in Radovica, Slovenia as one of eight children to Joseph (Jože) and Barbara (Barica) Golobic.
At the age of 18 she attended trade school in Ljubljana, Slovenia to become a master seamstress. That is where she met her husband to be, Louis (Alojzij) Jurkovic.
They escaped the war zone by traveling to Italy where they got married at the Vatican in Rome Italy, August, 1956.
They eventually immigrated to the US, settling in Highland Park, IL. Several years later they moved to Cleveland, OH. She immediately found employment at Richman Brothers Clothing as a skilled seamstress.
Pepca was employed at GE Lighting Nela Park for 25 years in the specialty lighting department. After retirement, she returned to her passion of sewing and was considered the neighborhood seamstress, always willing to help out with last minute repairs.
Her hobbies included traveling, gardening and baking her famous strudel and potica. But above all her favorite was playing slots at casinos throughout the US and Canada.
She was a founding member of the Belokranjski Club, member of Pristava Pensioners Club and a parishioner of Ss. Robert and William Catholic Church since 1968.
Pepca had a loving heart and an infectious smile that won the hearts of friends and family alike. Her sparkling blue eyes and loving glow lit up a room that will be forever missed.
Survivors include her children: Paul (Joy) Jurkovic, Lydia (Garry) Coulter, Barbara Gulan, grandchildren: Ryan (Alexa) Coulter, Lindsay (Tyler) Comella, Rob Coulter, Paulie Jurkovic, Niki, Anthony and Lukas Gennarelli and great grandchildren Watson and Harper Comella, sisters Cvetka Benedejcic and Slavica Cindric along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Louis Jurkovic, parents and siblings in Slovenia.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2025, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 am at Ss. Robert and William Church, 367 E. 260th Street, Euclid, OH 44132. Christian burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH.
