Josephine (Finni) Servis, was born Josefa on March 19, 1932, St. Joseph's Feast Day, in Parleiten, Germany. She passed away on June 29th, 2025 at the age of 93. She made her home in Enumclaw for 56 years, building a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet service.
Josephine married Frank Servis on April 18, 1953, in Switzerland. The couple later settled in Enumclaw, moving there from Smithtown, Long Island, New York. She worked in the kitchen at Kibler School from 1969 until her retirement in 1994. If you were a student in the Enumclaw School District during those years, chances are you were nourished by something she lovingly prepared.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Josephine was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church. Her faith was not something she kept to herself; it was woven into every part of her life. Whether it was the way she served others with humility, the prayers she quietly offered for family and friends, or the joy she found in everyday blessings, Josephine lived her faith actively and with great devotion. Her example left a lasting impression on her children and grandchildren, shaping not only their memories of her but also their understanding of what it means to live a life of love, purpose, and grace.
Josephine found joy in caring for her home and family. A gifted gardener, her roses, planted and tended with care, still bloom today. She had a knack for baking; a skill she carried with her from her early days working in a bakery. And she was a tireless family photographer, camera always ready. Though her loved ones sometimes groaned at the constant photos, those images are now treasured reminders of moments that would otherwise be lost to time. Her home, especially her kitchen and living room, was filled with those captured memories.
She was also an Auxiliary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1949, where her husband served as past commander.
She is survived by her son, Robert Servis of Enumclaw; daughter, Cindi Mullins and her husband Dennis of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; her sisters, Anna Thompson of Enumclaw and Erna Kaindl of Wolnzach, Germany; four grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held at 9:00am on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw, a reception will follow in the parish hall. Josephine will be inurned alongside her beloved husband at Enumclaw Evergreen Memorial Park.
Donations in Josephine's memory may be made to: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1614 Farrelly Street, Enumclaw, WA 98022 or VFW Post 1949, Post Office Box 14, Enumclaw, WA 98022.
