With broken hearts and unwavering faith, we share that our beloved Joshua David Benedict went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Windsor, Colorado, after a courageous year-long battle with brain cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by love, prayer, communion, hymns, worship, and the presence of those who held him most dear.

Josh was born on February 12, 1980, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York, and grew up in Greenville and Voorheesville, New York. He graduated from Clayton A. Bouton High School in 1998, where he lettered in both football and baseball. He went on to play college baseball at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management in 2002.

Josh was a man of deep faith, quiet strength, and limitless generosity. He built a successful career as a gifted financial advisor and was deeply respected by both clients and colleagues. Outside of work, Josh poured himself into the people and passions he loved. He was an avid golfer, a devoted youth football coach, and a loyal Denver Broncos fan. He found joy in riding motorcycles, traveling with his wife and family, and savoring life’s simple pleasures - good whiskey, a fine cigar or tobacco pipe, a perfectly smoked brisket or pork shoulder, target shooting at Derek’s property, or crafting something exceptional in the kitchen. He was a truly gifted chef.

Josh also exemplified remarkable discipline and resilience. He completed the demanding 75 Hard program four times—most impressively, finishing his final round while unknowingly having a brain tumor. He was kind, humble, loyal, funny and always ready to serve. The kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. Whether he was mentoring or coaching others, or simply offering a quiet, steady presence, Josh made the lives of those around him better.

He faced his illness with extraordinary courage and unshakable faith. Even in the darkest moments, his hope never faltered. His life, especially this past year, was a powerful testimony to God's strength, grace, and presence. It’s a legacy those who walked beside him will carry forever.

Josh is survived by his loving wife, Jessica, and their beloved son, Graham Benedict of Fort Collins, Colorado. He also leaves behind his faithful dogs, Winnie and Walter; his cat, Stella; and a flock of backyard chickens that brought him unexpected joy. His immediate family includes his mother, Linda Albers (formerly Sengenberger); his stepfather, Jeff Albers; his brothers, Aaron Benedict (wife Dana; children Brek, Ella, and Hunter), and Austin Albers; and his sister, Jamie Sharpe (husband Chandler; children Selah, Miriam, Gideon, and Malachi). He is also survived by his father and mother in-law, Chris and Melanie Hanavan; and his sister-in-law, Hillary Ellis (husband Derek; children Reagan, Foster, Esme, and Rowan). Josh was preceded in death by his brother, Logan Albers.

A Celebration of Josh’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Foundations Church in Loveland, Colorado. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and honor the life of a man whose faith, love, and character left an indelible mark on this world.

Though our hearts ache, we find peace in knowing that Josh is whole and healed in the presence of his Savior. As he reminded us time and again:

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)
