Mr. Joshua James Childers, age 39, was born on February 16, 1984, in Elizabethtown, KY, and passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2024, at his home in Springfield, KY.
Joshua is survived by his parents, Deb and Wolfgang James Childers; his wife, Shannon Childers; his son, Spencer James Childers (his mother-Kristin); his stepdaughter, Brooklyn Stanley; his siblings, James Edward (Joann), Patrick, Precious, Jordan, and Brittney; his grandchildren, Tayshon and Zion Goodman; his nieces and nephews, Ayden, Gavyn, Rylee, Kenadi, Ava Rose, Luna, CJ and Lukas; his godmother, Kim Honaker; his godfather, Tom Johnson; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him.
Joshua was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Allie Moran; his aunt, Francis Williams; his uncle, Roger Moran; and many other family members who are embracing him as he enters into heaven.
Joshua attended North Newton High School in Morocco, IN and earned his GED in 2002 with a 98% top score in Indiana that year.
Joshua has many accomplishments such as his son, Spencer, who was his pride and joy from the first breath he took. He was a welder at heart. It was a trade he learned at the age of 14 years old and was taught by his daddy. He was an iron worker for many years. Also, being married to his beautiful wife, Shannon, they built a business together called Bluegrass Chimney Sweep.
A memorial service to celebrate Joshua's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Curry officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Saturday. In honor of Josh's heart for helping others, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to any mental health, addiction, or recovery program.
We will look for you in the stars at night "Bravo". You are now our special angel! You loved hard, worked hard, prayed hard and at times lived life hard-a true overcomer and inspiration to many. Your story will be shared as you wished. Fly high and RIP forever more.
-Your Loving Family
As your wife and best friend, you were the brightest part of my life along with our children and grandchildren. You could not have been a better husband to me. Nobody loved me more. I loved you more than was even possible. My soul mate. You loved hard when you loved and I was so fortunate to call you mine. RIP my forever babe.
